Things We 🧡: StrikeSol Inserts for Comfortable Feet When RVing

We think StrikeSole makes the best foot protection for RVing around!

Like many RVers, I’m always looking for better ways to boost my comfort on the road—especially when it comes to temperature regulation. I don’t want to feel too hot or too cold. And the first place I tend to notice discomfort isn’t on my head or even my fingers. It’s my feet! When the temperatures drop, my feet are always the first thing to turn into ice cubes. No matter how many cozy, thick wool socks I pack. And it’s the kind of cold that creeps into the body and settles in deep.

My go-to solution in the past: my husband. He tends to run warm—a lot warmer than I do—so tucking my toes under his legs at the end of the day was pretty effective. For me. Unfortunately, he’s not entirely on board. In fact, he’s been pretty clear that he does not appreciate being a human foot warmer. Especially after a long day of driving, leveling, and wrangling hoses and cords. That’s fair… I guess.

Yet cold feet can kill a cheerful mood—even when you’re in the most beautiful locations, doing what you love. It’s just hard to enjoy the moments when your feet are so dang uncomfortable.

On the lookout for a solution that didn’t involve stealing body heat from someone else—or sneaking back into the RV to warm up, leaving the setup, clean up, or close down for my hubby (again), luckily, I came across StrikeSol inserts. Now, I’m already a fan of inserts for keeping my feet comfortable during long hikes. But StrikeSol inserts are different. They’re designed to shield your feet from extreme temperatures—both hot and cold. These ultra-thin inserts have become one of my favorite RVing comfort upgrades. And truth be told, my husband is pretty stoked that he’s no longer getting the icy feet treatment.

What Are StrikeSol Inserts?

StrikeSol inserts are designed to do one specific job really well: protect your feet from extreme temperatures. The ultra-thin inserts protect your feet from both freezing cold ground (or even ice) to scorching hot surfaces—from desert hikes to campground blacktops.

How? It starts with their advanced materials, originally developed for extreme space environments for astronauts. Really! The technology is now being used to block temperature transfer through your footwear. In short, they create a barrier between your feet and whatever temperature you’re standing on.

While we have nothing against the usual bulky insulated insoles or cushioned foot beds, another thing we love about StrikeSol inserts is how incredibly thin they are. They’re only about the thickness of a few stacked credit cards (only much more comfortable). So, they can easily be slipped into hiking boots, winter boots, everyday sneakers, or even my favorite pair of camp shoes.

What really sold us is that they work for both heat and cold.

When the ground is icy cold (or just ice!), they prevent heat from escaping through your feet.

And when we’re walking on hot pavement, sand, or desert rock, they reduce the heat that transfers into your shoes.

For RVers who travel across seasons, climates, and terrain—sometimes within a single trip—that kind of versatility can be huge.

Just think about how often your feet hit the ground when you’re RVing:

And when your toes are uncomfortable, everything else tends to follow. Maybe you cut a beautiful hike or stroll early. You rush through setup or packing up—possibly skipping important steps. Or you call it a night early when what you really want to do is linger longer to watch the night sky.

That’s why temperature regulation matters just as much as traction or support. Keeping your feet comfortable means you can enjoy RVing for longer and really embrace every moment.

They’re also super easy to insert and use:

Step 1: Remove your current insole.

Step 2: Trace your shoe insole onto the StrikeSol insert.

Step 3: Cut the StrikeSol down to the correct size.

Step 4: Peel and stick the shield to the bottom of your insole.

Step 5: Insert it back into your shoe and go.

While we love RVing, much of what we love about it is being outside our rigs. Early mornings. Quiet campgrounds. Spontaneous adventures. And long, slow evenings by the campfire. And when your feet feel good, you’re more inclined to explore longer.

If it wasn’t clear yet, we absolutely love these inserts. StrikeSol inserts have become a surprising upgrade that we didn’t realize we needed until we tried them. They take up no extra space, are easy to install, and quietly make RVing life more comfortable across every season.

And as a bonus, my husband is officially off foot-warmer duty. And he’s extremely grateful.
