Helen Christmas Market
Dates: weekends, late November through early December
Location: Helen, Georgia
Head to the Blue Ridge Mountains and visit the Helen Christmas Market for a European-style holiday (without the trip over the Atlantic). This event, modeled after the traditional German Christkindlmarkt, features handcrafted gifts, mulled wine, German pastries, and festive carolers with a charming Bavarian backdrop.
When you’re not immersed in the Christmas spirit, enjoy scenic drives, hikes, and plenty of cozy corners to get warm. Unicoi State Park Campground and Creekwood Resort RV Park & Cabins are nearby options to park your rig.

Christmas Capital of Texas®
Dates: All December
Location: Grapevine, Texas
We’ve all heard the saying, “Everything’s bigger in Texas.” And in Grapevine, that includes Christmas. With an astounding 1,400+ holiday events over 40 days—from light shows to parades to the North Pole Express® train ride—the entire town becomes a magical, storybook Christmas wonderland.
The mild Texas weather and easy access to nearby campgrounds—like The Vineyards Campground and Cabins on Grapevine Lake and Northlake Village RV Park—make it an ideal stop for snowbirders heading south for the coldest months of the year.

Sleigh the Games
Dates: December 12 – 14, 2025
Location: Estes Park, CO
If you love winter wonderlands combined with a bit of mountain mischief as much as we do, Estes Park’s Sleigh the Games can’t be missed. It’s a high-country celebration that blends small-town charm with holiday spirits. As for “mischief,” you can find snowball battles, log throws, team sled pulls, and even a dog costume contest—bound to help you stay warm with movement and laughter.
With tons of events, the lovely downtown Estes Park boutique shops, cozy coffee spots, and unbelievable mountain vistas, there’s something for everyone here.

Christmas in the Mountains
Dates: December 20 – 21, 2025
Location: Red River, New Mexico
Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Red River is known for its passionate embrace of everything Christmas. This weekend event transforms a quaint ski-town favorite into Christmas-land—complete with a Main Street light parade, live Christmas music, and cozy local shops serving up cheer and a chance to browse handmade gifts.
Even with all the cheer, it’s still fairly laid-back, making it a wonderful escape for RVers looking for some small-town charm and a more relaxed pace, surrounded by big mountain scenery.
For a longer stay, consider indulging in skiing, snowshoeing, or your favorite winter sport before settling into your rig for a winter retreat. Nearby 4K River Ranch RV & Lodging and Red River RV Park are both open year-round.

Winter Solstice Celebration
Dates: Around December 21
Location: Various locations across the U.S.
The Winter Solstice is an annual celebration marking the shortest day and longest night of the year. It has been observed in various ways by different cultures for centuries—honoring the return of light, the promise of longer days ahead, and the dreamlike quality of the season as people retreat within for peace and tranquility.
For RVers, it’s a perfect opportunity to blend nature, reflection, and quiet celebration. Imagine parking your rig with a clear view of the stars or a quiet walk in nature. Gather with close friends or family, string some lights, or burn a yule log to mark the night. Finish the celebration with hot drinks and shared food.
The vibe is peaceful and soulful—it’s less about commercial fanfare and more about embracing the winter landscape and community spirit.
Check for nature-based events in December at state parks or nature centers for nearby celebrations. For the best views, pick an RV site with minimal light pollution. A few options to consider are:
- Bear Creek Lake Park Winter Solstice Celebration, Lakewood, Colorado
- Chaco Culture National Historical Park and Aztec Ruins National Monument Winter Solstice Observation, New Mexico
- Fairbanks Winter Solstice Festival, Fairbanks, Alaska
- Winter Solstice Celebration at Buttonwood Nature Center, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania
Or consider creating your own event wherever you’re parked.
