After months of quiet campgrounds, cold-weather campsites, and shorter days and earlier nights—if you’ve managed to get out at all—spring arrives like a fresh, sweet invitation to reawaken your RV and hit the open road. Wildflowers start to bloom. And cities and towns across North America celebrate the return of life with festivals, food, and outdoor gatherings. It’s our time to hit the road and reconnect with nature and all of the bounty she provides.
In our opinion, spring is one of the best seasons to travel. The temperatures are more moderate in much of the country, and popular destinations aren’t yet overflowing with summertime crowds. Plus, events made to take advantage of the season are blooming across the country.
Take time out of your busy life to stroll beneath clouds of soft pink cherry blossoms. Slow down to sample incredible food truck cuisine. Or gather with fellow RVers at rallies, events, and meetups across the country. There are so many ways to celebrate this season. 🪻
Here are some spring events well worth adding to your travel calendar.

Chasing Cherry Blossoms 🌸
Every spring, nature gussies up cities and towns around the world in their most splendid outfits. With bursts of every shade of pink—thanks to cherry, plum, apple, crabapple, and other fruiting trees—we’re witness to a spectacular transition from winter. Cherry blossom festivals in particular provide a perfect excuse to explore new destinations and discover new (and old) cultures and traditions.
Many cities even offer guided walking or biking tours, making it easy to leave your RV safely parked at a nearby campground to go soak in the beauty at a relaxed pace.
Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia
Dates: March 21 (opening ceremony), March 28 (Blossom Kite Festival), April 4 (Petalpalooza®)
The National Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the most famous and spans a full four weeks. With thousands of trees surrounding the Tidal Basin, it’s no wonder this is one of the most photographed spring scenes in the U.S.
Pro RV Tip: Stay at campgrounds outside of the city, such as Cherry Hill Park, Prince William Forest, or Washington DC/Capitol KOA Holiday. Â From your campground, you can often take the Metro or local bus into the National Mall area. (Yes, you can even bring your bike.)
Tour Idea: Bike the 2.1-mile scenic Tidal Basin Loop Trail or join a guided blossom walking tour.

Portland, Oregon
Dates: mid-March through early April
The Tom McCall Waterfront Park doesn’t just provide beautiful views of the Willamette River with Mount Hood in the distance. It’s also another wonderful place to view the cherry blossoms.
Pro RV Tip: Find a campsite in a nearby campground, such as Oxbow Regional Park, LL Stub Stewart State Park, and Champoeg State Heritage Area.

Vancouver, British Columbia
Dates: March 27 – April 17, 2026
Vancouver hosts its own Cherry Blossom Festival, featuring picnics, bike rides, art installations, and guided blossom walks. Events stretch across the city and include The Big Picnic at David Lam Park (March 28 – 29) and Sakura Days Japan Fair at VanDusen Botanical Garden (April 11 – 12).
Pro RV Tip: If you pick the right campground and make use of public transit or cycling, Vancouver is surprisingly workable. Some to consider include Capilan River RV Park (just five miles from downtown Vancouver), Tsawwassen RV Resort, or Burnaby Cariboo RV Park & Campground.

Macon, Georgia
Dates: March 20 – 29, 2026
Macon is often called the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World due to its lively festival celebrating each spring with concerts, parades, and fun family events. Best of all, it’s far easier to navigate, even with a larger RV, than most major cities. Yet it provides beautiful access to hundreds of thousands of Yoshino cherry trees in all their glory.
Pro RV Tip: There are many nearby RV resorts in the area to consider, such as Byron RV Park, Claystone Park Lake Tobesofkee, or Forsyth KOA Journey. Â

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Dates: March 28 – 29
The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival invites people to join together at Fairmont Park to enjoy the beautiful blooms, cultural events, and performances. Purchase tickets by March 27 for the early bird discounted price of $15.
Pro RV Tip: Consider staying outside of the city at  Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA Holiday (about 15 – 20 minutes from Philadelphia), Brandywine Creek Campground, Village Scene RV Park, or Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday.

Other Spring Festivals that Pair Perfectly with RV Travel
Beyond cherry blossom festivals, there are several spring festivals in scenic locations that naturally lend themselves to road trips. Some that have captured our imagination include:
Food Trucks Haven, Kissimmee, Florida, just outside of Orlando, bringing together rotating line-ups of vendors serving cuisine from around the world. Â
Texas Hill Country Wildflower Season, mid-March through April, which invites you to slow down and take in bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, winecups, and fire wheels painting the hillsides. It’s one of the best RV road trips of the season.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Washington, throughout the month of April, to see fields of bright tulips strewn throughout the valley. A must for flower lovers and photographers alike.

Tulip Time Festival, Holland, Michigan, May 1 – 10, to see millions of tulips blooming along with markets, parades, and Dutch cultural celebrations.
